MEETING THE NEEDS OF OTHERS

Posted by Chance Hill Baptist Church on October 18, 2020 at 2:45 PM Comments comments (0)

Lesson 3 for Week of October 18, 2020 Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

Background Passages: Leviticus 19:18, 34; Luke 10:25-37 Lesson Passage: Luke 10:25-37

                            "MEETING THE NEEDS OF OTHERS"

UNIFYING TOPIC

Loving Your Neighbor

LESSON TEXT

I. Where Should Love Be Directed? (Luke 10:25-28 )

II. Who Is My Neighbor? (Luke 10:29-37)

THE MAIN THOUGHT

Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. Luke 10:36-37)8)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

Selfies desires, self-gratifications, and self-interests are highly valued in por time. How can we become better neighbors to one another? Jesus challenges us to address the needs and welfare of everyone, including perceived enemies.

LESSON AIM

To learn that the central aim of the Law and the Gospel are the same-love God and neighbor.

Life AIM

To not allow social barriers to limit the scope of our relationships and interactions.

God's Word in Life

An atomosphere of dislike and resentment was found in first-century Palestine between Samaritans who were of mixed marriages and Jews who were not. When Jesus told His disciples He had to travel to Samaria, His decision was surprising and controversial because it was well-known at the time that Jews did not travel to Samaria. A bit of ethnic animus existed between Samaritans and Jews. Some even may have wondered whether or not they would all be together in God's Kingdom. Whereas this is not a shining example, instances within our own history show this kind of prejudice that seeps into our understanding of God. Humankind's tendency is to make God and DGod's ways follow our customs and beliefs. Is the Kingdom of God divided and separated by ethnic groups? Does God value all peoples?

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic: "MEETING THE NEEDS OF OTHERS" He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou? And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself

I. Where Should Love Be Directed? (Luke 10:25-28 )

25 And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

26 He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?

27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

28 And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live.

II. Who Is My Neighbor? (Luke 10:29-37)

29 But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbour?

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

In conclusion:

The central aim of the Law and the Gospel are the same-love God and neighbor.

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

How can we become better neighbors to one another? Is the Kingdom of God divided and separated by ethnic groups? Does God value all peoples?

CLOSING PRAYER...Lord thank you for giving us the word......so many people don't get the meaning of love your neighbor and bless them as you would do youself teach us that that is your greatest command in Jesus name Amen.

"OVERCOMING SELF-INTEREST"

Lesson 2 for Week of October 11, 2020 Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

Background Passages: Luke 6:27-36 Lesson Passage: Luke 6:27-36

"OVERCOMING SELF-INTEREST"

UNIFYING TOPIC

Love Your Enemies

LESSON TEXT

I. Be Different from the Unsaved (Luke 6:27-34 )

II The Insiders can Influence the Outsiders (Luke 6:35-36 )

THE MAIN THOUGHT

But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Luke 6:27-288)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

We often wonder how we should treat our enemies. How should we respond to them? Jesus taught His disciples to love their enemies by forgiving them, responding to their needs, and by being nonjudgmental.

LESSON AIM

To learn that emulatingGod's mercy is a standard for which we must strive, but recognize that a merciful God still punishes evil.

Life AIM

To demonstrate great faith by loviing enemies.

God's Word in Life

Have you ever seen the brother standing on the corner selling The Final Call? You will never see a brother dressed in shorts, sagging pants, or a shirt that displays cheeky tattoos. No, because no matter your location, the brother will be dressed counter to modern contemporary culture. The Nation of Islam sends a message by their dress that one of their men is different. He is to stand out from the crowd to show that what they believe is something positive. Likewise, the believers of Christ must be distinquished from the world. Jesus said of His followers, 'You are the light of the world" Matthew 5:14. Just as light is distinguished from darkness, so should the behavior of every follower of Christ be distinguishedfrom those in the world. The habits of Christians add or take away from the influences Christ seeks to permeate within His Kingdom. All this includes not only what actions one takes, but also what is said and how it is said. The fruit of the Spirit should come out in the beliver's actions to present him/herself worthy of the Kingdom.

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic: "OVERCOMING SELF-INTEREST" In our lesson today Jesus laid out rules for His disciples to follow for the houes and for the kingdom somebody say amen! When we are mistreated by others the Lord expects us to do good to them even when we are cursed without a cause we are to pray for those who talk about us, use us, lie on us, scandalise our name and persecute us, Michelle Obama said it oh so well "when they go low we go highz" Hallelujah! Jesus here wasn't given a suggestion rather this is what He expected from them; and us. It like home training that we all are familiar with and if the parents leave home the oldest child will make sure that the rules are followed. Jesus made it cystal clear to His follower to Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you and take it a little higher Jesus said if they slap you on one cheek turn the other side to let them slap and if they ask for anything give it to them not exspecting nothing back and do not go out talking about them but pray for them. MY MY MY< Lord of MERCY!! Questions? What makes us different we need to be different from the world Paul says we ar in this world but not of this world so don't do as the world do be the difference. We making a difference........ this is one of my Ministries I started "Women Making A Difference". Jesus spoke of the good Samaritans how they did not associate with Jews but when you look pass the group that you a part of and work for the kingdom of God, you will be blessed. Never mind the one who tries to harm you, God got your back just show them your goodness. This will make God so proud of us. So we will learn that we should give forgive. God has proved His love by sending His only son to give us life more abundantly and that love is eternal. Amen........

I. Be Different from the Unsaved (Luke 6:27-34 )

27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.

33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

II The Insiders can Influence the Outsiders (Luke 6:35-36 )

35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

In conclusion:

Jesus makes it clear we are called to love differently. How can we? Jesus said in Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Evenif you are slap on one cheek let them slap the other cheek and if your enemy ask for your cloak give them your coat to. Its a priveledge to give to someone if they asked and don't forget the golden rule which is this principle treating others as you want to be treated. Treat others as you would like others to treat you (positive or directive form) this command was given to the disciples from Jesus as a rule to live by and we to must live or apply this same rule to our lives. This is not difficult to do this is what Jesu expects us to do to the ones who makes it hard to do.

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

Have you every been pointed out for being different? How did it make you feel? Would you preferto fit in with the crowd or stand out?

CLOSING PRAYER...Lord thank you for giving us the word......so many people don't get the meaning of love your enemiesand bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you help us oh God to be more like you any consider our ways ... in Jesus name Amen.

A TRUE FRIEND INTERVENES

Posted by Chance Hill Baptist Church on October 9, 2020 at 10:50 PM Comments comments (0)

Lesson 1 for Week of October 4, 2020 Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

Background Passages: I Samuel 19:1-7;23:1-18; 2 Samuel 9                    Lesson Passage 1 Samuel 19:1-7

                                                       "A TRUE FRIEND INTERVENES"

UNIFYING TOPIC

Love and Devotion to Others

LESSON TEXT

I. What's in the Heart Bubbles to the Top (I Samuel 19:1-3)

II A Friend's Impassioned Plea (I Samuel 19:4-7)

THE MAIN THOUGHT

And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:(1 Samuel 19:4)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

Althrough families are important, family dysfunction can skew our priorities and lead us to ruin. Is there a greater priority than family? Jonathan opposed the unjust intentions of his father, King Saul, in order to offer support and protection to David.

LESSON AIM

To teach what true godly friendship entails and looks like.

Life AIM

To commit to do what is right even as family loyalties may put one in a difficult position.

God's Word in Life

The African-American legendary world champion boxer Muhammad Ali and white prominent sports announcer Howard Cosell were two electric personalities who became unlikely friends. During a time of great racial tensions in the United States, they found ways of repecting, supporting, and loving each other in ways that transcended political, cultural, and economic divisions throughout the country. Their relationship is but one example of how the love of a friend can show the presence of God in one's life . They did not ask for premission to hold such a bond of love toward each other. The time period in which they lived was more of an obstacle to such friendship than a motivator. If love is to be real, it must be able to found in strangers, the poor, and even enemies who have been reconciled because of the power of love. The example of Muhammad Ali and Howard Coswell parallels many such friends in the Bible. While young John Mark was dismissed as too naive for the commpn with the sinful man, but His death on the cross was an expression of His love to those He desires for friendship as well as lordship.

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic: "A TRUE FRIEND INTERVENES" Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:That's what you call a good friend or a good brother or a loyal father someone who will stand for truth and intervenes on your behalf. We can then say Lord you can count on me! A young person may recall times when their parents did not approve of their friends, because of that persons attitude but adults respect their parents and also recognize that adult children have to be individuals in their own right. However, for many the latter is a diffcult transition.

I. What's in the Heart Bubbles to the Top (I Samuel 19:1-3)

1And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.

2But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:

3And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.

II A Friend's Impassioned Plea (I Samuel 19:4-7)

4And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:

5For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?

6And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain.

7And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan shewed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.

In conclusion:

We encountered the bodacious wrath of King Saul as his jealousy and fear of David caused him to plot his execution. We also encountered the bold love of Jonathan's who intervened on his fried David's behalf. In Jonathan's intervention, we discovered what friendship in action looks like. Good godly friendship warns friends of impending danger, plans for their welfare, speaks up and speaks well of friends, broadens our perspectives, chooses to do the right thing no matter the cost, and urges friends to stay away from sin. (rhboyd reference) This farmiliar song by Bill Withers came to me during this pandemic season right before because I saw in this season we was going to need each other support. and the song Lean on me has facts as a true friend when you're not strong a friend will be their so you will have someone to lean on. Jonathan's actions toward David did more than save David, they hepled secure salvation for the whole world. That's good news.

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

Is there a greater priority than family? Do you have any true friends? When was your love foor your friends strong enough that you were willing to take a stand, even when it was difficult? Have you ever been like that old childhood maxim that state, I'll be your friend through thick and thin, but if nine jump on you, I'll make ten"?

CLOSING PRAYER...Lord thank you for true friends that will stick closer than a brother and bless those that fell protraded by their fried to overcome the hurt pain or hatered in Jesus name Amen.

What's in Store Contents for Fourth This Quarter Fall-Winter

Posted by Chance Hill Baptist Church on October 9, 2020 at 10:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Unit I----Inclusive Love

Unit I, 'Inclusive Love,' has four sessions that center on love for the stranger, the poor, and enemies as well as divine love reflected in human life. First Samuel shows David's love for others. Luke explores the teachings of Jesus regarding love for one's enemies and Jesus' Parable of the Good Samaritan. First Corinthians explores the sermon on love from Paul's writing, which depicts the height of human love coming from divine love.

Unit Points of Emphasis This unit is very fitting for what the world is going through Corona Virus, Social Distance, or the Pandemic. Inclusive Love is what God is requiring of us. I remember a message that Pastor Smith preached on and in his sermon he stated that God is tired of us not obeying him and God is not going to do nothing else and that remind me of the messge God gave me in December and I preached that message and I told the people that God said it is time to Put Up or Shut Up and in that message God said for the world to take a seat He got this! because prayer wasn't going to stop this Pandemic nor demonstration. Its time to show and tell God who we really are. We need to look into this teaching a contiune to hear the voice of the Lord.

What's in Store This Quarter

Before we go into the 4th quarter lessons I want to close out the third quarter with a recap of what we learned the summer quarter.

Highligts: Wisdom in the Gospels that explained the wisdom of God seen in the teachings and lif of Jesus.

Faith and Wisdom in James, These teaching explored the interaction of faith and wisdom, including practical advic regarding faith in action and taming the tongue. The study ends by contrasting two kinds of wisdom; Conventional Wisdom and God's Wisdom.

Struggles with Love Revealing aspecrs of love, reveals how a lack of familial love devolve into jealousy and destruction. And How portrays Joseph's commitment to love that refuses to hold on to past wrongs but rather seeks God's path to future success. and also we learned that Joseph's brothers coming to Egypt and reveal how love and reconciliation can prevail in spite of harsh and negative circumstances.

What a great summer inspite of the social distances God is still God! AMEN.......Some times God will allow the not familiar to happen to shift us into greater purpose. James says count it all JOY!

Are we better Christians out of the Church Meetings together or are we worst off in our homes with our family? God is testing us to see if we can hold on to His unchanging HANDS!

LOVE PREVAILS OVER ALL

Posted by Chance Hill Baptist Church on September 27, 2020 at 11:10 PM Comments comments (0)

Lesson 13 for Week of September 27, 2020 Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

                                         "LOVE PREVAILS OVER ALL"

UNIFYING TOPIC

God's Plan Revealed

LESSON TEXT

I. Joseph Reveals Himself (Genesis 45:1-8)

II.He Provides through Joseph (Genesis 45:10-15)

THE MAIN THOUGHT

Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life. (Genesis 45:5 KJV)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

Sometimes one is overwhelmed by tragic events in his or her life. What can keep hope alive after the struggle ends? Joseph told his brothers what they meant as harm was God's plan for saving them, a remnant of God's people.

LESSON AIM

To show how one broken family was able to restore their relationships by having the courage to forgive and walk in love.

Life AIM

To demonstrate the love of God to all.

God's Word in Life

Life circumstances often may cause us tto take drastic measures. There are still modernday famines, disasters, and pandemics that leave families destitute. As they were running out of food, Jacob had to send his sons back to Egypt to buy more food. This was a risky proposition. If they returned to Egypt without Benjamin. they feared they would die. If they did not go to get food in Egypt, they all would die of starvation. God wanted to preserve His remnant. It was neccessary for Jacob to trust God with his family. Although Jacob did not understand at this time what God was doing, he was left with little choice but to trust God. Sometimes we are in similar situations. There may be a clear solution to the issue, and there may not be. Some situations can be complex. God wants to show you that you can trust Him with your life today and with your future. Regardless of whether or not your back is up against the wall, trust God for the answer, and trust Him with your heart and your life.

Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic: "LOVE PREVAILS OVER ALL" When all else fail try Jesus. The song writer says.... try Jesus His alright I done tried Him and He's alright. God ultimately provided for Jacob's family through Joseph. Though the family dynamics never completely healed, the brothers had to accept Joseph was who he said he was. People may can talk against you to other people, but they can't change the fact that you are who God says you are. Our gifts and callings are without repentance. However that is not a scapegoat to sin and not repent. We don't have forever to get it right. Do it while you have a chance. Work while its day because when night comes no man can work. Facts. Regardless of whether or not your back is up against the wall, trust God for the answer, and trust Him with your heart and your life.

I. Joseph Reveals Himself (Genesis 45:1-8)

1Then Joseph could not refrain himself before all them that stood by him; and he cried, Cause every man to go out from me. And there stood no man with him, while Joseph made himself known unto his brethren.

2And he wept aloud: and the Egyptians and the house of Pharaoh heard.

3And Joseph said unto his brethren, I am Joseph; doth my father yet live? And his brethren could not answer him; for they were troubled at his presence.

4And Joseph said unto his brethren, Come near to me, I pray you. And they came near. And he said, I am Joseph your brother, whom ye sold into Egypt.

5Now therefore be not grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that ye sold me hither: for God did send me before you to preserve life.

6For these two years hath the famine been in the land: and yet there are five years, in the which there shall neither be earing nor harvest.

7And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

8So now it was not you that sent me hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

9Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me, tarry not:

II.He Provides through Joseph (Genesis 45:10-15)

10And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children's children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast:

11And there will I nourish thee; for yet there are five years of famine; lest thou, and thy household, and all that thou hast, come to poverty.

12And, behold, your eyes see, and the eyes of my brother Benjamin, that it is my mouth that speaketh unto you.

13And ye shall tell my father of all my glory in Egypt, and of all that ye have seen; and ye shall haste and bring down my father hither.

14And he fell upon his brother Benjamin's neck, and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck.

15Moreover he kissed all his brethren, and wept upon them: and after that his brethren talked with him.

In conclusion:

Seek God's divine will when all else has fell. Pray for God's strategy in your life at home at work in church, at school, in the hosptial, whereever you may need His covering. like Joseph Be Faithful be patient obey and trust the process, God will bring about His purposes in due time.Glory!!!

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

What can keep hope alive after the struggle ends? Why do love prevails?

CLOSING PRAYER....Father God In Jesus name AMEN...... Thank you for you miraculous power and your love that prevails over all. Keep our focus on you for you knows the plan for our lives and thank you for revealing your plans to us.Life sometimes deals us a drastic hand but with you by our side we can count on you to bring us out of famines, disaster, pandemics, sickness, sorrow and pains. Thank you Lord.......Help us to keep our trust in you when we can't se our way through in Jesus name Amen.

"HAUNTED BY SHAME?"

Posted by Chance Hill Baptist Church on September 20, 2020 at 11:55 PM Comments comments (0)

Lesson 12 for Week of September 20, 2020 Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

                                              "HAUNTED BY SHAME?"

 UNIFYING TOPIC

 Love Versus Guilt

 LESSON TEXT

I. The Famine (Genesis 42:6-25)

II. I Need Proof (Genesis 42:13-20)

III. The Penalty Is Due (Genesis 42:21-25)

THE MAIN THOUGHT

And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required. (Genesis 42:22)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

Some people allow guilt from the past to poison their present. Is it ever possible to be free from condemnation for past actions? When Joseph saw and remembered his brothers that sold him into Egyptian slavery, he showed compassion while motivation them to recall and take responsibility for their earlier actions.

LESSON AIM

To demonstrate through the life of Joseph and his encounters with his brothers that godly sorrow leads to repentance. We can forgive those who have wronged us by walking in love.

Life AIM

To forgive those who have wronged us and to understand that even in situation where intertions were evil and causedus harm, God will work it all together for our good.

God's Word in Life

At times we may have to take drastic measures to resolve an issue. In today's lesson, Jacob could not sit back and watch his family die of starvation. He heard there was grain in Egypt, so he urged his ten sons to go there to buy grain. Little did he know that his own son Joseph was the man in charge of all the grain in Egypt. Quite often when disaster strikes, many are so traumatized by the situation that they fail to act. Others will forge ahead without seeking God's direction in the situation, such as those who stockpiled supplies and food at the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States. When tempted to do wrong to solve our problems, we should stop and count to ten. Ask God to show you the right way to handle the situation.

Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic: "HAUNTED BY SHAME" Some people may want to get revenge with those who have wronged them but the Lord said vengence is mine I will repay. We don't have a reason to get even with noone meaning if you get even then what is the Lord job.? Just stand back and see how God handle the people that have wronged you or hurt . Will you hurt someone like they have hurted you? or let God be God? Just let God be God. Joseph brothers wronged him when he was young but Joseph was blessed and he had to give them food to eat.

Joseph's brothers plotted to kill him, but God intervened to bring about His purposes. Joseph rose from the pit, went to the palace, and saved Egypt and his father's entire household from the famine. Play if you want to and think that I am dead or crazy, and watch what happens!!! God used a negative situation to bring about family reconciliation, and during this PANDEMIC God is restoring families. Don't judge in this season let God handle His business! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

I. The Famine (Genesis 42:6-25)

6And Joseph was the governor over the land, and he it was that sold to all the people of the land: and Joseph's brethren came, and bowed down themselves before him with their faces to the earth.

7And Joseph saw his brethren, and he knew them, but made himself strange unto them, and spake roughly unto them; and he said unto them, Whence come ye? And they said, From the land of Canaan to buy food.

8And Joseph knew his brethren, but they knew not him.

9And Joseph remembered the dreams which he dreamed of them, and said unto them, Ye are spies; to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

10And they said unto him, Nay, my lord, but to buy food are thy servants come.

11We are all one man's sons; we are true men, thy servants are no spies.

12And he said unto them, Nay, but to see the nakedness of the land ye are come.

II. I Need Proof (Genesis 42:13-20)

13And they said, Thy servants are twelve brethren, the sons of one man in the land of Canaan; and, behold, the youngest is this day with our father, and one is not.

14And Joseph said unto them, That is it that I spake unto you, saying, Ye are spies:

15Hereby ye shall be proved: By the life of Pharaoh ye shall not go forth hence, except your youngest brother come hither.

16Send one of you, and let him fetch your brother, and ye shall be kept in prison, that your words may be proved, whether there be any truth in you: or else by the life of Pharaoh surely ye are spies.

17And he put them all together into ward three days.

18And Joseph said unto them the third day, This do, and live; for I fear God:

19If ye be true men, let one of your brethren be bound in the house of your prison: go ye, carry corn for the famine of your houses:

20But bring your youngest brother unto me; so shall your words be verified, and ye shall not die. And they did so.

III. The Penalty Is Due (Genesis 42:21-25)

21And they said one to another, We are verily guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the anguish of his soul, when he besought us, and we would not hear; therefore is this distress come upon us.

22And Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.

23And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.

24And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and ret25Then Joseph commanded to fill their sacks with corn, and to restore every man's money into his sack, and to give them provision for the way: and thus did he unto them.

In conclusion: 8)

When you feel like your past has come back to bite you to hinder your present; look at Joseph situation with his brother's and hold fast to the love God showed Joseph and know what the devil send to kill you God will reverse the curse and show blessings and miracles! God will work it it in your favor every tine if you just trust Him and trust the PROCESS. Joseph rose from the state of unimportance to importance and famous. Look at God! He worked it out in on Joseph behalf. Love versus Guilt from a famine to I need proof to the penalty paid up! In your time of defeat, despair, or suffering anchor yourself in the LORD!! Again, during this Pandemic is a great and suffice time to be anchored in the Lord.

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

How Joseph's brothers confronted their fears about how wrongly they treated him when he was young? How have you dealt with issues of shame and guilt? What experience in life is preparing you for your purpose in life?

CLOSING PRAYER....Father we come before you to acknowledge that you are God and you along is the giver of life. We ask you to continue letting your word come forth so that we don't take for granted that your love and kindness is to be demostrated among your people for the buliding of your kingdom. Help us to realize that we should never think for a second that we will be prosperous by backbitting scheming and jealousy towards anyone. Help to show love to those who are willing to be apart of your kingdom and kingdom work. Hate is raging among us as a weapon to keep your people from their full potention; especially when it comes down to shifting us in positions that are not explainable. We love you we honor you and we give you all the praise, In Jesus name AMEN!

"LOVE VERSUS BITTERNESS"

Lesson 11 for Week of September 13, 2020 Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

"LOVE VERSUS BITTERNESS"

"UNIFYING TOPIC:

God Rewards Obedience

LESSON TEXT

I. God Promoted Joseph (Genesis 41:25-33)

II.Double for His Trouble (Genesis 41:37-40)

III. Forgetful and Fruitful (Genesis 41:50-52)

THE MAIN THOUGHT

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. (Gensis 41:39-40, KJV)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

It may be difficult to hold on to dreams of future success when faced with extreme hardships. What inner resourses are needed to continue one's quest for success? Because Joseph loves and obeyed God, he was able to engage in wise and discerning problem-solving that motivated Pharaoh to appoint him second in command over all of Egypt.

LESSON AIM

Students will gain a deeper understanding of Joseph's life and how God's will was fulfilled through his long-suffering and faithfulness to God.

Life AIM

To understand and receive God's wisdom regarding divine plans and purposes primarily through understanding the Scriptures with guidance of the Holy Spirit, prayer, and complete trust in God.

God's Word in Life

Hardships, trials, adversity, and suffering can last a long time. Some people who cannot endue suffering give up on God. Joseph's love for God kept him steadfast in his faith. He trusted God in all circumstances that he faced in life. He did not abandon God or become angry with Him because of his sufferings. He was thrown in a pit, then in a prison. For his early adult years, Joseph was a slave in Egypt. His brothers stripped him of his coat that represented nobility, but they could not take away God's divine purpose for Joseph's life. Joseph became secondin command in all of Egypt. Throughout his life, he wore the robe of righteousness. We should never despise small beginnings, In due season, God will fulfill His purposes and plan in our lives, so long as we trust Him implicity

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic: "LOVE VERSUS BITTERNESS Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. Afterward, as a slave he was given charge of his master's house. Then he was acused of rape by his master's wife. HE was thrown into prison for a period of time, but Joseph didn't lose sight of his calling because he knew that God was on his side. When God is on your side there is no devil in hell can stop you destiny. God will make a way for you to come in contact with some king and princess. Joseph met up with two interesting men who were servants of the pharaoh; a cupbearer and a baker (look out now) greater is coming! These two servants both had a dream on the same night that was disturbing, and the next day Joseph interpreted those dreams for the servants. The interpretation came to pass and Joseph told the two servants to remembered him when they were released from prison. When we do good good will follow and to flip that saying when we do evil, evil will follow. Two years later the cupbearer remembered Joseph when pharaoh had a disturbing set of dreams and he didn't have no interpreter. The king of Egypt summoned Joseph to interpret his dreams. Joseph's life was about to change (double for his trouble) his dreams landed him in prison when he intrepreted it, but in the end Josephs dream was conformation to his dream in the beginning. Joseph obedience was rewarded.Be intentional in practicing forgiveness toward people who have hurt you. Unforgiveness can hold us back from our full potention and we want receive the tremendous gifts God has placed in our possession. We should share our dreams by living it. Let your life speak for you!!!! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

I. God Promoted Joseph (Genesis 41:25-33)

25And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.

26The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.

27And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

28This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.

29Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:

30And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;

31And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.

32And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.

33Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.

34Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.

35And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.

36And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.

II.Double for His Trouble (Genesis 41:37-40)

37And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.

38And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

39And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:

40Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.

III. Forgetful and Fruitful (Genesis 41:50-52)

50And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bare unto him.

51And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.

52And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.

In conclusion:

God used a negative situation to bring about family reconciliation, and during this PANDEMIC God is restoring families. Don't judge in this season let God handle His business!

Young adullt who are eager to do great things in their lives run into roadblocks and setbacks, that causes hardship and pain and they tend to stop and focus on that problem to long, and it causes them to become doubtful and feared. Where Older Adults see their hardships as a comeback and their pain as an experience to testify to the young adults and witness to them that the earth is the Lord and the fullness thereof. Trust God and know that He will turn your bitterness and pain to Love and gain. In all things trust God and obey His word and watch God change your situations. Joseph suffered loss and made huge sacrifices in order to fulfill God's plan for his life He didn't seek revenge. He obeyed God and he was rewardeddouble for his trouble. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God! He is worth!

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

How do we respond to trouble and difficult season? What do you consider your life's purpose, and what is your mission in life? What can you learn from Joseph about how to walk through times of intense trails and adversity?

CLOSING PRAYER....Father we thank you for being so merciful, gracious, and kind to us during this time of pain. we know that your grace is sufficient and forever so keep us in the path of righteousness and help us not to walk in guilt so your grace want be shown. We give you all praise, honor, and glory, In Jesus name AMEN!

Yours truly,

Lesson 10 for Week of September 6, 2020 Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

                                                           "WHEN LOVE IS LOST"

"UNIFYING TOPIC:

Issues of Love

LESSON TEXT

I. My Favorite (Genesis 37:2-4)

II.Sibling Rivalry (Genesis 37:5-11)

III. God Works It Out for Good (Genesis 37:23-24, 2) 8)

THE MAIN THOUGHT

And his brethren envied him; buthis father observed rhe saying. (Genesis 37:5-11)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

Jealousy, hate, and love are emotions people experience in their families. How do people deal with these emotion? An absence of love for Joseph by his brothers led to envy and finally a plot to kill him.

LESSON AIM

To help students examine the circumstances of familial love and hated between Jacob/Israel's sons.

Life AIM

To encourage students to repent of times they allowed jealousy and hatred to override a commitment to love.

God's Word in Life

Parents often show favoritism to one child over another, failing miserably in their parental task of offering unconditional love and support to their progeny. Jacob's family was full of parental favoritism, His mother showed favoritism toward him over Esau. As a result, Jacob stole Esau's birthright with the help of his mother. This deception inturiated Esau, and Jacob fled for his life., never to see his mother again. Many years later, after Jacob bore his own children, he showed favoritism to Joseph. The saying that you reap what you sow (Job 4:8) is so true! Jacob's favoritism toward Joseph resulted in Joseph's brothers' contempt and Jacob's heartbrokenness.

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic: "WHEN LOVE IS LOST" this is a big issue when love is lost. Lost of love we result in hate. There should never be any love lost when you practice godly living on a daily basis. We loses love because we take our eyes off the birthright and focus on the inheritance. People can take your inheritance but they ca't take your birthright and this is how God rewards us, we don't have to worry about what people takes from us, because what goes around will come back around. God got blessing.......with your name on it!! We have so many memories from our childhood and some of them reminds us about the favoritism that was shown to another slibling but that shouldn't cause you to want to kill your brother or sister, but we should be happy for them and know that we too is blessed through God!! In todays lesson the events that cycled out of control because of jealousy caused Jacob not to see Joseph for years, Joseph's brothers plotted to kill him, but God intervened to bring about His purposes. AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!

I. My Favorite (Genesis 37:2-4)

2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.

3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.

II.Sibling Rivalry (Genesis 37:5-11)

5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:

7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.

10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?

11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.

III. God Works It Out for Good (Genesis 37:23-24, 2)

23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;

24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.

In conclusion:-)

Examine the circumstances of familial love and hated between you and your love ones or family as a whole, and work on fixing to problems that causes envy and hatred. The time is now it's time to get it right! The LORD said He was coming back and He was going to judge the house of faith. Don't let Him catch you with your works undone!

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

How do people deal with their emotions? Descrobe your family relationships and how God has used your family or worked through negative circumstances to bring about good in their lives. How have ypur dream to be successful motivated you?

CLOSING PRAYER....Father we come before you to acknowledge that you are God and you along is the giver of life. We ask you to continue letting your word come forth so that we don't take for granted that your love and kindness is to be demostrated among your people for the buliding of your kingdom. Help us to realize that we should never think for a second that we will be prosperous by showing favoritism to anyone. Help us not to envy but love those who are willing to be all you have called them to be with. Hate is raging among us as a weapon to keepyour people from their full potention; especially when it comes down to shifting us in positions that are not explainable. We love you we honor you and we give you all the praise, In Jesus name AMEN!

"WISE UP"

Lesson 9 for Week of August 30, 2020 Reference: R.H> Boyd Publishing Corporation

                                                                   "WISE UP"

"UNIFYING TOPIC:

Two Kinds of Wisdom

LESSON TEXT

I. Who Is Wise? (James 3:13)

II. Conventional Wisdom (James 3:14-18)

III. God's Wisdom (James 3:17 KJV)

THE MAIN THOUGHT

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (James 3:5, KJV)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

Throughout history many have risked their lives by resisting oppressive regimes, thus saving the lives of others. What motivates a person to defy evil and choose to sct for the good of strangers? James compared and contrasted the consequences of using wisdom for righteousness or for evil.

LESSON AIM

To demonstrate the characteristics of wisdom and the value of acting with wisdom from God.

Life AIM

To live daily in the wisdom of God.

God's Word in Life

James discussed the wisdom that comes from God. True wisdom and understanding of God's ways will be expressed through honorable living, doing good works, and walking in humility. Those who are bitter, jealous, and have selfish ambition often will boast and lie. Jealousy and selfishness are not a part of God's DNA for wisdom. James further asserted that jealousy and selfish ambition are demonic, because wherever one may find these traits, there is disorder and evil of every kind. The fruit of wisdom is righteousness, peace, gentleness, willingness to yield to others, mercy, good deeds, lack of favortism, and sincerity. This is also aligned with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal.5:22-23)

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic:"WISE UP" Atlanta Falcon slogan the says "WE'RE ALL WE GOT "WE'RE ALL WE NEED. "RISE UP" And today's lesson has that same context urging the readers and hearer to WISE UP. I love Solomon's request from God was to grant him wisdom so he can share with the children of Israel. Power, Talent, and Wealth was just a drop in the bucket for Solomon that wasn't important to Solomon but he wanted God's Wisdom to lead.........and we to as a people need to WISE UP'.It's pretty easy to rise up each and every day to seek knowledge from a man source but only God grant can wisdom. James point this out pretty sharp and clearly wisdom is knowing that you shouldn't pratice strife and self ambition however you should pursue peace and show good works. I am amazed at this word because it point to us today what is very much need among the saints of God! Its time to WISE UP. Ignorance is still growing and remainging to key hinderance in our Churches today. People is being led into bitter envying and strife, hypocrisy in their hearts and say that they are Christians rise up and wise up before its to late. The bible says for us to work while it is day, when night comes NO man can works. Night is coming, when no one can work." John 9:4, ESV: "We must work the works of him who sent us while it is day; night is coming, whatcha you going to do then. WISE UP! I like what the Boyd's Commentary says; Believers find triumph over trials and difficulty by seeking divine wisdom through prayer, study, and 'at times' through trusted advisers. Who are your trusted, godly advisers? This Christians life is a daily walk not just when we thinks that its necessary. James compared and contrasted the consequences of using wisdom for righteousness or for evil.

I. Who Is Wise? (James 3:13) King James Version

13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.

II. Conventional Wisdom (James 3:14-18)

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace

III. God's Wisdom (James 5:7-12)

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

10 Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

In conclusion:

Living on a College campus where knowledge is highly esteemed, it often is tempting to gain knowledge to appear to be smart and forget about the wisdom of God. Godly wisdom comes from an intimate relationship with Christ. and we as adult need to remind our youth the wisdom of the world does not compare to the wisdom of God. Godly wisdom comes from an intimate relatioship with Him. He reveals His secrets to His servants.AMEN!!!! HALLELUJAH!!

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

We all have moments when we need to become wiser in the Lord. What are one of your moments you had to wise up? Do you lean more on conventional wisdom or God's? What motivates a person to defy evil and choose to sct for the good of strangers?

CLOSING PRAYER....Father God in the mighty name of Jesus, help us to purpose our heart to be peaceable, pure and pleasant toward our fellow brothers and let not bitter envying strife, and selfish ambition cause us to miss heaven shoting for the star, fame, power, and riches. Create in us a clean heart and the right spirit not a spirit of confusion, arrogance, devilish action, but help us to strive to be pure, gentle, peaceable, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and of good fruits, without partiality, and with hypocrisy. In Jesus name AMEN!

Yours truly,

Vickie Hill
