THE MAIN THOUGHT

And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (I John 3:24)

UNIFYING PRINCIPLE

Hatred toward others sometimes seems far easier to attain than love. How can we show love for others? The willingness of Jesus to die for us and His command that we live for others both bring that confidence.

LESSON AIM

To learn that Christians are to love each other because God loves us.

Life AIM

To love all those with whom we come into contact, even though

God's Word in Life

The SouthernPoverty Law Center (SPLC) reports that in the United States, hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and the American Nazi Party have been on the rise. Those who advocate and practice hatred, hostility, or violent vigilantism toward members of a race, ethnicity, nation, religion, gender, or any other designated sector of society is a hate group. The rise of the hate groups, accordind to the SPLC, has taken place for the past twenty years. The African-American community is no stranger to hate groups, byt hate groups are not the only problem for African-Americancommunities. Systematized hatred also is a problem In recent times, polece brutality and state-sanctioned killings have come under fire. Racism is a form of hatred that has been institutionalized within the criminal justice system. Protests have broken out against institutional and vigilante violence. How can we reconcile the beliefs of hate groups and institutionalized racism with the Bible's teaching on love? What shold be the response of Christians outside of these hate groups?

Okay so before we get into the Scriptures let me talk on the lesson topic: "LOVING OTHERS" Hatred toward others in today's world is real, the Christians have become heartless just as the world and don't care about noone but themselves. Christians need to consistently take precaution of how we are responding to the things of God and Gods people. Hatred to others sometimes seems far easier to attain than love. How can we show love for others?

I. What Love Is Not (I John 3:11-15)

11For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

12Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

13Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

14We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

15Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

II. Love as God Expected (I John 3:16-24)

16Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

17But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

18My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

19And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

20For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

21Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

22And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

23And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

24And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

In Conclusion:

The willingness of Jesus to die for us and His command that we live for others both bring that confidence. Love others the way The Lord love us.

QUESTION FOR DISCUSSION:

Hatred toward others sometimes seems far easier to attain than love. How can we show love for others?

CLOSING PRAYER...Lord thank you for your word teaching us that we should love like you love and love others like you ove us. We know that this is your greatest command to all human kind. Help us not to be so self-loving until we don't know how to love others. Thank you for showing us the greatest love by sending your only Son to the earth to redeem us back to you. We love you for that mirculious demonstration for all to kow your love for all. In Jesus name Amen!
